November 1, 2026

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 6:35 PM, the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched on an automatic aid assignment to the 100 block of Strode Avenue in the City of Coatesville for a reported structure fire assisting the City of Coatesville Fire Department Station 41.

First-arriving units found fire showing on the exterior side of a mixed-occupancy building consisting of a commercial property with residential living space above. Firefighters quickly deployed a handline and extinguished the exterior fire while additional crews conducted an interior search and investigation of Division 1 and Division 2 to check for possible fire extension into the structure.

Due to the visible fire upon arrival, the incident commander requested the Working Fire Dispatch, bringing additional resources to the scene, including an Ambulance and Medic 44, an air unit, a rapid intervention team, and Chester County Fire Marshal's Office.

Thanks to the quick actions of responding crews, the fire was rapidly contained and prevented from extending further into the building. As crews completed their inspections and confirmed no significant extension, the assignment was scaled back and incoming units were reduced.

Westwood Engine 44-5 responded on the initial assignment, while Ambulance and Medic 44 were added as part of the Working Fire Dispatch.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Coatesville Fire Marshal's Office. No injuries were reported.

Units: Engine 44-5, Ambulance 44-1, Medic 44-1
