| On Sunday, December 10th, 2006 eight members of the Westwood Fire Company completed a National Fire Officer I and Fire Instructor I curriculum which was held at the Chester County Department of Emergency Services throughout the past month.
The class, which is 48 hours in length, expands upon the administrative and operational roles of a Company Officer or Fire Chief to give a better understanding on how to handle personnel issues, firefighter safety and wellness, community relations, communications, fire company and group dynamics and various other administrative topics.
The class was a writing intensive course which required the students to compose policies and procedures and demonstrate proper writing techniques and skills.
In addition, students were required to create Power Point presentations, provide a lesson plan, and make a presentation to the other students in the class.
Upon completion of this course, our members were administered a written examination to meet National training standards for both Fire Officer and Fire Instructor level one.
Congratulations to our members who have furthered their Fire Service education and have completed another successful level of National Certification. |
