| Our 2008 Ambulance Division Fund Drive mailing is on the way to all residents and business owners in our primary response district.
This mailer goes out annually to help support the Westwood Fire Company Ambulance Division's operating expenses as well as provide a way for our residents and business owners to reduce possible costs of utilizing our service in the unfortunate time that we may be needed.
Residents may pay a $25 fee to become an individual subscriber for this year or $45 for an entire family contribution. Businesses will be credited as a subscriber with a $100 submission. These costs helps to absorb any unpaid fees by insurance agencies in the event a patient is transported to the hospital by our Ambulance. While we do bill insurance companies for our services and supplies utilized on an emergency medical call, often times full payment is not remitted by insurance agencies. Anyone who has paid our 2008 annual fund drive is recognized as a subscriber and any unpaid portion of an ambulance bill are absorbed by the Fire Company.
In 2008, we will be looking forward to replacing our 2003 Ford Braun Ambulance which has served us faithfully for more than 5 years and will have responded to over 4,000 Ambulance calls since we purchased it new. The expected costs to replace this vehicle will exceed $135,000. We strive to have new equipment to provide for the safety of our residents and with your continued donations, we can continue to provide top of the line equipment for our community.
We continue to operate as the only 100% volunteer Ambulance Service in Chester County due to a handful of dedicated volunteers who respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in your time of need. While you rely on us to be there at a moments notice when you are suffering a medical emergency, we rely on your financial contributions to enable us to provide these services to you.
