Reported House Fire in Country Club Valley

By Assistant Fire Chief John Sly
February 25, 2008

On Monday, February 25th, 2008 just after midnight as most of our volunteers were sleeping, the Westwood Fire Company, Sadsburyville Fire Company, and a Tanker from the East Brandywine Fire Company were dispatched at 0025 to Turnberry Court in the Country Club Valley Development for a possible house fire.

Chief 44 responded at 0028 and was advised that the homeowner believed their to be an odor of something burning in the attic.

Fortunately, the Sadsburyville Fire Company had just returned from a residential rescue incident in their primary district in Sadsbury Township, so they made an immediate response.

Engine 44-5 and Rescue 44 responded simultaneously, with Ambulance 44 following shortly thereafter.

Deputy Chief Reynolds of the Sadsburyville Fire Company arrived on the scene and established "Country Club Valley Command." Valley Police Officer Giannini was on the scene and quickly advised Chief Reynolds that the odor had apparently dissipated. All units were advised to respond at a reduced speed.

Firefighters from the Sadsburyville Fire Company attempted to investigate the reported odor, however nothing was found of any significance.

East Brandywine Tanker 49 was recalled.

Chief McWilliams and Westwood crews assisted the Sadsburyville personnel upon arriving at the scene, however it was quickly determined that no fire department services would be needed at the scene.

All units cleared the scene at 0053.

Units: Engine 44-5, Rescue 44, and Ambulance 44

Mutual Aid: Sadsburyville Engine 31-2, Engine 31-1, and QRS 31 and East Brandywine Tanker 49
